The women here wear one color

when they walk
a bright blue
skin tight
jump suit to catch the eye
headphones to mute
what surrounds

she’d rather be looked at
than spoken to

June is coming soon
a pleasant month to listen
find a new spot to sit
and watch the world bloom

it makes me sad to know
how much the Austin women will miss

tech jobs and dogs
laminate their lives
everything is glistening
and nothing’s soaking in

reflections protect the paper
but the story gets locked
stuck inside the shine
cold shoulder to the leaves
the world loves to talk
if only you could hear the breeze.
